Being asked to be Charlie and Amandas Longhouse wedding photographer in Bruton was just about everything you could dream of in a Somerset wedding. If you’ve ever traveled to Glastonbury festival then you’ll know the way, just carry on for a few more miles and you’ll be there. Bruton is a stunning little Somerset village that has kept all of it’s charm and makes everything for a photographer easy, it all looks so good. Charlie and Amanda’s wedding at the Longhouse in Bruton was the week before Glastonbury festival… thankfully! I would needed to add a few more hours travel time if the festival was on. The campers were already arriving though, camping out along the road ready for the gates to open on the day. I got there on time.
I arrived to the usual busyness of bride and bridesmaids getting ready, actually I am noticing how there is so much calm in the run up to the ceremony, until about 1 hour before, and then it suddenly goes a bit manic, it’s suddenly happening! Amanda had it all under control however. I guess I knew she would, most brides will book me 8-10 months in advance, Amanda booked me about 15 months in Advance, that’s good planning! You could tell the wedding was well planned and thought through as the day went so well and so smoothly. It was a real joy to photograph.
The stand out thing for me at this wedding was how much support Charlie and Amanda had from friends and family. It’s not unusual to have support from friends and family, but it seemed like these guys had real fans, like football supporters or something! There were cheers and fist pumps during the speeches and lots of emotion… oh my. Charlie’s mum was in bits, his dad was pretending not to be, his brother was doing his best but failing… Amanda’s family were beaming with smiles, clearly full of pride. It was a really lovely thing to witness. I talk to other photographers who get all emotional as I often do at weddings, we’ve got something to hide our faces with though so it goes un-noticed!
It was a fantastic day and I want to say a HUGE thank you for letting me be your Longhouse wedding photographer. I hope these images help you to remember a fantastic day for the rest of your lives. Big blessings to you and your families.
