A look back at 2018

Finally got round to putting together some images from 2018. It was an amazing year. 34 weddings and many miles driven around the country. It has been so hard choosing images as there are so many to choose from, so this is just a little snapshot, I wish it could be so much longer.

I’ve had the opportunity to meet some wonderful couples, their families and friends, and have been so moved by some of their stories. I think the one that moved me the most was the father of the bride who wrote a speech before he passed away. The father of the groom read it out for the bride. It was one of the most moving things I have experienced.

My mantra of ‘telling the story of your day using images ‘has become even more important for me this last year. It is constantly challenging the way I approach photography, what I focus on and why. it’s become a bit like a filter for me to keep me on track with my reason for making images. It’s far too easy to get caught up in the latest fad or “look” when honest story telling is the thing that wins every time. More about that in another post!
