David and Freya - Bristol Wedding Photography

David and Freya got married in Bristol earlier last year. (I actually wrote “This year” and had to delete that!) Where did 2022 go!? To be honest I’m just getting around to blogging weddings from earlier last year, it kind of flew by. Everyone was getting used to being able to meet in larger groups, the excitement was coming back into the wedding industry - all was good again!

This wedding was one of those lovely “Home Made” ones. I don’t know how else to describe it really. The kind of wedding where loads of people are involved in making it happen, lots of buy-in from friends and family. The ceremony took place at Woodlands Church in Clifton Bristol, followed by an amazing garden reception at Ashley Down House. The gardens are huge so a size-able marquee was set up and all the friends and family gathered for an afternoon and evening of eating, drinking and dancing. The procession from the church to the reception was led by the minister from Woodlands Church, Dave Mitchell who happens to be a good friend of mine. He likes his banjo’s, accordions and anything folk music related really. It’s always a joy to see him playing one of his many instruments - even more so if he’s leading a procession of 100 or so people through the streets of Cotham!

We have known David for some time, so it was really lovely to see him and Freya get married on such a perfect day.

Anyway, here’s a load of images from David and Freya’s wedding day. Such a fantastic one!

Camera Info:

For the camera geeks among you, here’s the kit I used at this wedding.

2 x Sony A7iii’s, one with a 28mm f2 and the other with an 85mm f1.8. I also had a 50mm 1.8 that I used a fair bit.

The Sony’s are not and will probably never be my favorite cameras. They are amazing at what they do, and the functionality and the image output is hard to beat - they are just no fun to use. I’ll write a blog about cameras soon - I’ve used a few over the years. I have my favourites and it doesn’t always reflect which one is “best” more the ones I connect with. Some cameras I only use for work, some I use because I just love using them. It’ll be a fun blog post, mostly for photographers and camera geeks, not so much for regular folk…
