Nick and Roz - Folly Farm Wedding

Folly Farm Wedding

It’s November 12th. It is supposed to be cold, raining, grey, basically miserable. BUT, Nick and Roz were getting married so that was never going to happen - somewhere decisions about the weather and global temperature are made, it was a given that Nick and Roz would have the best weather for their day. I am kind of kidding, but having met Nick and Roz I feel like they somehow have the gift of attracting the very best in life because they are simply lovely people - I don’t know how this stuff works but when everyone around you wants the best for you then you’re probably more likely to get the best out of life. Nick and Roz’s friends and family were huge supporters, cheering them on all the way and celebrating all the way. It was lovely to see and I think I joined to team too, at least for their wedding day!

Folly Farm is am amazing venue, set in the heart of the Chew Valley with incredible views and an incredibly hard working staff team. It’s a stunning place to get married - especially when the sun is shining and it’s nearly 20 degrees in mid November. The ideal thing about amazing weather in the winter is the early sunsets. The sun is going down around 5pm which means the golden hour shots don’t clash with the evening celebrations. Great for a photographer!

As you’ll see from the images their was plenty of emotion. Roz is a self confessed cryer, I think that is a lovely thing. When the bride is emotional on the day everyone else follows suite, including the photographer! I must admit to welling up a few times - it’s all good.

Anyway, here’s a few images from this incredible Folly Farm Wedding. I loved it.

Camera geek info:

I used 2 Sony A7iii’s one with a 28mm f2 and the other with a 50mm f1.8. I used an 85mm for a few of the portrait shots, but the 50mm was used for most of the day.

For these blog images the 85mm was used for 6 shots, 28mm for 27 shots and the 50mm for 95 images. The 50mm is probably my favourite focal length. I used to think it wasn't versatile enough, but over the last couple of years it has found it’s way back into my favourite lens selection.
